Start with cumulative tracked spend
The rule uses Google Ads spend recorded for a product across the history imported into your workspace—not just the last seven days and not necessarily the account’s full lifetime. It also checks that no Shopify units were sold in tracked history.
Choose a percentage of retail price
The suggested threshold is 50% of the lowest current variant price. For a product priced at $58, the threshold is $29. It qualifies when recorded spend reaches that amount and recorded units sold remain zero. Saving a percentage does not activate the automation.
Understand what happens next
The automation starts off. Once you activate it, qualifying products are unpublished from Google & YouTube after a successful sync. Their Shopify status and publishing to other channels stay unchanged. You can deactivate it at any time. Reporting and feed delays mean it cannot guarantee an exact real-time spending cap.
Read the result, not just the trigger
The product switch shows verified publishing in Shopify’s Google & YouTube channel. An error leaves the result unconfirmed. Google’s processing is separate and may take time; unpublishing also removes availability for free listings from this channel.
